Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 13, 2026

The short version: CVDesignHub runs entirely in your browser. There's no account, no server that stores your resume, and no database your resume content is uploaded to. Everything you enter or upload on the resume/cover letter forms stays on your device unless you export it yourself. Separately, we use Google Analytics to understand app usage (see "Analytics and tracking" below) — it tracks feature usage, not your resume content.

Information we do not collect

We do not require sign-up or login, so we do not collect your name, email, or account credentials to use the app. We do not operate a backend server or database that stores resume content, cover letter content, or personal details you enter into the builder. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties, because we never receive it in the first place.

How your resume data is stored

All information you enter — personal details, work experience, education, skills, summaries, and cover letter text — is saved locally in your own browser using standard browser storage (localStorage and IndexedDB via the app's auto-save feature). This data never leaves your device as part of normal use of the builder. It persists across sessions so your work is there when you come back, and it is removed if you clear your browser's site data or use the app's own clear/reset controls.

Because storage is local to your browser and device, your data is not automatically available on a different browser or device, and it is not backed up by us. If you clear your browsing data, uninstall your browser, or reset your device, that information is gone — we cannot recover it.

Uploading and parsing existing resumes

If you use the "upload resume" feature to import an existing PDF or DOCX file, that file is read and parsed entirely in your browser (using client-side libraries such as pdf.js and Mammoth). The file and its extracted text are not uploaded to any server operated by us. The parsed content is placed into the same local browser storage described above.

AI Assist feature

The "AI Assist" tool included in the builder currently generates suggested phrasing using built-in templates that run locally in your browser. It does not send your prompts or resume content to any external AI service. If this changes in a future version — for example, by connecting AI Assist to a live third-party AI provider — this policy will be updated in advance to reflect exactly what is sent, to whom, and why.

Exporting your documents

When you export a resume or cover letter (as PDF or DOCX), that file is generated locally in your browser and saved to your device through your browser's normal file-download mechanism. We do not receive a copy of exported files.

Analytics and tracking

CVDesignHub uses Google Analytics (GA4), implemented through Google Tag Manager, to understand how people use the app and to improve it. This is separate from, and does not have access to, the resume or cover letter content you type into the builder.

Through Google Analytics we collect standard usage and device information, such as page views and referring pages, general device, browser, and approximate location information (derived from IP address), and interaction events including: form wizard steps completed, template selections and switches, resume/cover letter exports (and file type chosen), resume file uploads and whether parsing succeeded or failed, job-match analysis and ATS score calculations (the numeric score and that the feature was used — not the resume text or job description itself), and skill additions, theme changes, and which view is active in the app.

Google Analytics does not receive the text of your resume, cover letter, uploaded files, or job descriptions. The events above are limited to feature usage and numeric/categorical values (e.g. "ATS score: 82", "template: Modern") rather than your personal content.

Cookies: Google Analytics sets cookies and similar identifiers in your browser to distinguish visitors and sessions. These cookies do not contain any resume data. You can disable cookies in your browser settings or use an adblocker if you wish to opt out of tracking.

Children's privacy

CVDesignHub is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children, since the app does not collect personal information at all in the ordinary course of use.

Your control over your data

Because your data lives in your browser, you are always in control of it. You can review everything you've entered directly in the app, delete it at any time using your browser's site data settings or the app's reset/clear function, and export a copy for your own records whenever you like.

Changes to this policy

If how the app handles data changes — for example, if account features, cloud sync, or third-party integrations are added in the future — this policy will be updated and the effective date above will change accordingly. We recommend checking back periodically if you use the app regularly.
